Did you know that if you are a Medicare eligible consumer you can get help from your state to pay for Medicare premiums? Some states even help qualifying consumer pay Medicare Part A and Part B deductibles, coinsurance and copayment!
To qualify for a MSP, individuals must:
1. Reside in state or the District of Columbia
2. Be 65 or older
3. Receive Social Security Disability Benefits,
4. People with certain disabilities or permanent kidney failure
5. Meet standard income and resource requirements
Currently, there are 4 MSP programs in place:
1. Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Profram (QMB): helps pay for Medicare Part A premiums, Part B premiums, deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments
2. Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Program (SLMB): helps pay for Part B premiums only
3. Qualifying Individual Program (QI): helps pay for Part B premiums only
4. Qualified Disabled and Working Individuals (QDWI): helps pay for Part A premiums only
When enrolled in an MSP, individuals will automatically get Extra Help - a Federal Program that helps pay for the cost of prescription drugs.
